As a Retail Sales Merchandiser, you will be ensuring that a proper level of stock is maintained, deciding which products department stores/supermarket should stock and that the merchandise of your employer is displayed appropriately with proper signage and favorable shelf placement in order to achieve greater sales and maximise profits. It is the responsibility of the retail sales merchandiser to resolve issues that may arise, and solve problems at the store level in order to maintain the standards established in the initial sales agreement. Retail merchandisers are the link between retailers and suppliers, ensuring the right stock is in the right place at the right time to maximise sales and margin performance for both the retailer and the manufacturer.
-Minimum Education – Secondary school
-Age minimum -18 years old
-6 days work inclusive Sat & Sun
-Prior experience or ability to develop strong relationships with retailer/supplier to ensure smooth progression of products on a day-to-day basis while maintaining customer/client relationships
-Non-graduates and graduates of all disciplines, retail or merchandising experience at the store level is preferred *(Experience is added advantage)
-(Own transportation) constant handling and distribution of merchandise, willing to travel and drive to multiple locations
-(Physical) engage in considerable physical activity, by willing and able to lift and move products in this job with the use of proper safety practices and equipment will be essential.
-Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to interact effectively internally as well as with external contacts.
-Must excel in time management, analytical abilities, problem solving and multi-tasking within a fast-paced organization.
-Deciding which products should be stocked for each type and size of store
-Liaise closely with retailer and supplier store operations teams to make sure the stock is properly monitored and available, increasing the stock of those products that are proving popular
-Monitoring slow sellers and taking action to reduce prices or set promotions as necessary
-Communicating closely and maintain a good working relationship with retailers/store managers and suppliers
-Shelf management services, ensuring that merchandise is displayed appropriately with proper signage/ price tags and favourable shelf placement to maximise sales
-Monitoring sales volume, inspecting inventory levels, and maintaining in-store promotional materials throughout the regular/promotional period
