Football cum Sports Writer (Bahasa Malaysia)

Job Responsibilities

• The task is to write features, analysis, interviews and other stories of local sports especially football and badminton; a strong passion for sports
• Original, exclusive analysis and strategic writing – strictly no plagiarism
• Solid knowledge of Malaysia sports especially local football leagues and badminton; knowledge of European and world sports especially football is an added advantage
• The ideal candidate must have solid local football and badminton knowledge
• Demonstrated creativity and ability to conjure up fresh, relevant content that will resonate with readers, while also keeping in alignment with the company brand’s personality and goals
• Meet
• ing deadlines and KPI is a must
• Must be able to write excellent Bahasa Malaysia without spelling and grammar mistakes
• To undertake any ad-hoc tasks/ projects as and when required
• Any other duties as and when assigned from time to time
• You will be asked to undergo a test and produce a sample article for evaluation purpose
• Experiences in news /web portal is preferred
• You may be required to work on shift especially during big tournaments/ competitions

Job Requirements

• Minimum two (2) or more years of experience in a writing, editing, and/or content management role
• Strong understanding of data collection and feeds, advanced data analytics work, tactical application and so on
• Experience using Content Management System (CMS); ability to learn new software program
• Relevant experience in working with news/ sports websites and online editorial setups
• Thorough knowledge and hands-on experience with detailed analytics and traffic driving strategies
• Diverse writing background and proven ability to adapt fluidly in a fast-paced, quickly evolving environment
• Strong numerical ability with understanding of key sports metrics and distributions
• A strong passion for local sports (especially football and badminton) and information on a global scale and kept up to date with latest sports news
• Must have a positive can-do attitude and be a team player with a passion for perfection
• Independent, resourceful and meticulous
• Attentive to detail and good in planning and time management
• A good team player; collaborate with multiple stakeholders required
• Fast learner with excellent follow up skills
• Computer literate, notably Microsoft Applications
• Good command in both oral and written Bahasa Malaysia
• Excellent Bahasa Malaysia writing and speaking skills
• Able to start immediately
• Weekend working might be required
